Our First Guest Post
On Wednesdays we are inviting other travelling and homeschooling families to guest post on our blog. Here is the first! We are so excited.
Without further ado, here is a post from Michelle.
Christmas time is fast approaching and we are busily buying gifts for loved ones, but what do you get for a travelling family? With limited luggage space and weight restrictions, it can be difficult to think of anything meaningful. Here are some options for the travelling little ones in your life!
Camera
Older kids will love to capture moments of their travel with their own camera. Some cameras have great kid-friendly features such as a waterproof and soft cover, easy to use large screen, lanyard for easy carrying and cute stickers for a bit of fun! It’s a great way to encourage independence and enthusiasm in the travel experience.
Mini Microscope
Junior scientists will love a hand-held microscope to explore the world in a different way! In contrast to a traditional microscope, your child can take the pocket version out into the world with them to look at anything and everything. It’s a great way to engage little brains in travelling and exploring the world in a unique way!
DIY Kaleidoscope
If your child is creative, then they will love a wooden kaleidoscope. This kaleidoscope comes apart so your child can place objects onto the glass to create their own unique patterns using objects such as flowers, shells and beads. The options are endless! Such a fun way to explore the world around them.
Binoculars
There are many kid-friendly binoculars out there that are perfect for curious little ones! Take them on boat trips, beach walks or mountain hikes and your child will love spotting things from a distance that only their eyes can see.
Tiger Tribe Activity Packs
Tiger Tribe makes a range of portable activity packs with cute designs for both boys and girls. They contain everything you need in an easy carrycase, including textas, colouring, scratch art and more. A perfect gift to occupy little ones on a train or plane!
An experience!
Rather than buying something that a travel family must lug around with them, why not buy an experience? Look at options in the areas they are travelling to next, such as animal encounters, helicopter or hot air balloon rides, or cultural experiences that will create lifelong memories for the whole family.
What do you think? Has this given you some ideas for Christmas presents for the little ones despite their travelling lifestyle? I’d love to hear your favourite travel present ideas in the comments.
