This week marked our last week in Italy. As much as we love going to new places, leaving places we really, like is hard. We had such a great time in Italy, it wasn’t easy this time. Before we left though, we had a great week.
Chris and I went on a dinner date. We do one of these in each country that we visit. This time, went to a restaurant called “Old Wild West”. It was a cool place decorated like the old wild west. We were even sitting in a covered wagon!
We wanted to take the kids to a goodbye dinner the next day, but everything was either closed or busy, so we went back again. They had great burgers and great desserts. They also had a lot of vegetarian options, which the 3 vegetarians in our family appreciated.
Wednesday my mom and I took part in an online cooking class and baked some bread and Christmas cookies. The cookies didn’t survive two days so they must have been good!
Thursday we had a fun time at a museum in Viareggio. It was at the campus where they build the floats for the carnival parade. I had never seen that before so it was interesting to see how much work goes into each float and how they build it.
Friday was once again packing day. We hate having to pack and move on, but we love seeing new places. We need to find someone who can handle the packing and the driving for us!
Then it was sadly time to leave. One last trip to the ocean to say goodbye. It’s an odd tradition I have. Whenever I am near the ocean I say “hi” when I arrive and “bye” when I leave. All the oceans are connected, so in a way, it’s always the same one, right? Hey, everyone has their weird things!
Off we went to France!
The boss, the general, and the brains of the operation. Anya is the mom of this crazy group of misfits. When not traveling the world and teaching her kids to be decent human-beings, she likes to bake, sing, be goofy. Aside from all that she does for Five of a Kind, she is also a short term foster mother for infants in need.
She also enjoys unreasonably spicy foods and is searching for a hot sauce that is spicy enough and yet still has some kind of flavor to it.
